As part of the movement for Black lives, Grimes founded the Denver Freedom Riders to support the Ferguson and Baltimore uprisings, building a grassroots network of thousands of people. Grimes was honored as the keynote speaker in the 2014 MLK Marade, which reached a record-breaking 40,000 people. <image:caption>Mike Shum (b. Denver, CO, 1985) is a journalist and filmmaker who specializes in cinematography and production. Shum’s work explores the ways in which we perceive and define home within contexts of historical and cultural struggle. Through documentary film, Shum draws people into the complicated nature of empathy as a way of featuring the spectrum of human experience from abuses of institutional power to individual trauma. Growing up a son of Hong Kong immigrants, Shum seeks to relate his own struggle with defining home through his body of work. Most recently, Shum was the writer-director and producer on the Frontline | PBS post-election special collaboration, American Voices. The broadcast film is an excerpt of a long-term project following people in the United States as they live through the COVID-19 Pandemic. In 2015, Shum was a finalist for the 2015 National News and Doc Emmy for Outstanding Interview with the NYTimes for his work in Iraq. In 2017, he produced and served as director of photography for the Tribeca Film Festival’s Audience Award-winning film, Hondros — a documentary on the life and work of famed photojournalist, Chris Hondros, now available on Netflix. In 2019, Shum served as director of photography for the film Predator on the Reservation — a documentary about a doctor who preyed on children for over twenty years within the Indian Health Services. He and his team were finalists for the 2020 National News and Doc Emmy Award for Outstanding Investigative Documentary with the Wall Street Journal and Frontline | PBS. In addition to these collaborations, Shum works with renowned media organizations like BBC, Al Jazeera Witness, Time Magazine, and National Geographic. He is also building a commercial and fiction portfolio for artistic endeavors to come. Photo by Mai Yer Vang</image:caption>

      <image:title>Sarah Keo - Sarah Keo</image:title>
<image:caption>(she/they) Sarah Keo is a Cambodian-American director and producer based in Denver, Colorado. After a childhood spent patiently waiting for her wizarding school letter to arrive and searching for magical worlds within wardrobes, Sarah realized that her passion was in storytelling. It wasn't until she worked in artist support programs at the Sundance Institute, however, that she truly discovered the power that filmmaking holds to evoke empathy and compassion. Now, Sarah is inspired to tell diverse, human-centered stories that shift the cultural narrative and help shine a light on a better path forward for ourselves and our planet. Her current project Chasing Time, a short climate film that she co-directed with Emmy-winning filmmaker Jeff Orlowski-Yang, is world premiering at Hot Docs. Sarah is also an Associate Producer at Exposure Labs, the film and impact production company behind The Social Dilemma, Chasing Coral, and Chasing Ice. In her role, she supports the team's mission of developing and sharing stories that address big societal challenges and that inspire hope and action for collective solutions.</image:caption>

<image:caption>(he/him) Keith Garcia's twenty year long career with Denver Film currently finds him as the Artistic Director of the Sie FilmCenter where his diverse programming keeps audiences on their toes. He is also a filmmaker, wrapping up work on his forthcoming DRAG-umentary - THE HEELS HAVE EYES - about Denver's vibrant and electric drag performance community, which Keith has been following for over 15 years. Keith founded Denver Film's CinemaQ program - focused on an abundance of LGBTQ+ titles and working to give them their due - as a monthly program in 2006 that blossomed into a successful and robust Film Festival in 2009 that will be returning for its 16th celebration later this year. Keith is off the dating market, and loves pizza and movies... Duh.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Forrest Lotterhos - Forrest Lotterhos</image:title>
<image:caption>(he/they) Forrest (he/they) creates work that inspires actionable change and amplifies underrepresented voices. He develops sensory-rich, emotionally immersive media that slows down audiences and invites them to go inwards. Sound is his entry point into storytelling and he taps this under-utilized power to elevate productions. With a background in documentary film editing focused on climate action and social justice impact, Forrest has had work featured in The National Geographic, at Sundance, Telluride, and over 30+ international film festivals. Forrest is trans, queer and neurodivergent. These identities and experiences deeply inform how he shows up in the world and as a story facilitator. He believes that creating space for divergent folks in film and media will rewrite and reroute our collective imagination. photo credit: Ryan Burns (they/them)</image:caption>
