Jorge Avila

Jorge Avila is an author, screenwriter, and producer who was born in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico.

During his formative years, Jorge discovered the joy of reading and the magic of narrative in an old library in his hometown. Jorge is the author of the book “Maricopa, Men in Pink,” which inspired the stage musical "Maricopa, An American Border Tale" as well as a one man show. The original production of the "Maricopa" musical received recognition from the City of Los Angeles by Councilmember Gilbert Cedillo from the LA's 1st District. "Maricopa" the play was also staged in Denver and Steamboat Springs Colorado in 2018, with Jorge a producer on both shows.

Jorge has also written a children’s play, “Lolita and the Weirdest Adventure,” and a young adult book, “Suriana Lugo y el Mago Eskeleto” (in Spanish). He is currently working with a production company in Denver on the development of a TV series.

Jorge lives with his family in a small ski town in the Rocky Mountains.
